President Donald Trump has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House next week for discussions aimed at ending the 15-month conflict in Gaza and addressing mutual adversaries. This meeting will be Netanyahu's first visit during Trump's second term.
The invitation comes amid a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which has resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Over 47,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis have been reported killed.
During the meeting, Netanyahu is expected to seek U.S. support for Israel's military needs, including weapons deliveries, and to discuss strategies for countering Iran's influence in the region. Additionally, Netanyahu aims to explore opportunities for normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia.
In the meantime, more than 375,000 Palestinians have returned to northern Gaza under the ceasefire agreement, encountering significant destruction of homes and infrastructure. Humanitarian aid has been flowing into Gaza, with approximately 4,200 trucks entering the region in the past week alone.
The upcoming meeting between Trump and Netanyahu is anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the region, with both leaders aiming to address the ongoing conflict and regional security chal
lenges.
