200 Indians deported from US will land at Punjab's Amritsar airport

A U.S. military aircraft carrying approximately 205 Indian nationals, primarily from Punjab and neighboring states, is scheduled to land at Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. These individuals are being deported due to their illegal immigration status in the United States.

Punjab's Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed that the state government will receive the deportees and has coordinated with central authorities to facilitate their arrival.

Punjab's NRI Affairs Minister, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, expressed disappointment over the deportations, emphasizing that many of these individuals had contributed to the U.S. economy and should have been considered for permanent residency. He plans to discuss the matter with India's External Affairs Minister to address the concerns of Punjabis residing in the U.S.

This event underscores the challenges and risks associated with illegal immigration. Authorities advise individuals to pursue legal avenues for migration and to be cautious of unauthorized agents who may exploit aspiring migrants.
