IIT Roorkee has released the marking scheme for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. The exam will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in English, with a duration of 3 hours. It will consist of 30 subject papers, each divided into two sections: General Aptitude (GA) and the candidate's selected subject.
Types of Questions:
1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): Each question has four options, with only one correct answer.
2. Multiple Select Questions (MSQs): Each question has four options, with one or more correct answers.
3. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: Questions where the answer is a real number, to be entered using an on-screen keypad.

MCQs:
1-mark questions: 1/3 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
2-mark questions: 2/3 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
MSQs and NAT Questions:

No partial marking for MSQs.

For most papers (e.g., AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, IN, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PI, TF):
General Aptitude: 15 marks
Engineering Mathematics: 13 marks
Subject Questions: 72 marks
Total: 100 marks
For papers like AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL:
General Aptitude: 15 marks
Subject Questions: 85 marks
Total: 100 marks
