NASA Astronaut Shares Stunning Photos Of Maha Kumbh Mela From Space

NASA astronaut Don Pettit, currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS), has shared breathtaking images of the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, India. Captured from space, these photos showcase the illuminated banks of the Ganges River, highlighting the vast scale and radiant brilliance of the world's largest religious gathering.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Pettit remarked, "2025 Maha Kumbh Mela Ganges River pilgrimage from the ISS at night. The largest human gathering in the world is well lit."

The stunning visuals not only capture the event's grandeur but also underscore the extensive efforts behind its organization. A dedicated team of over 5,000 individuals, led by superintending engineer Manoj Gupta, worked tirelessly to install 75,000 LED lights on 52,000 poles across the Mela area, ensuring the festival's luminous splendor.
