Trump to sign order eliminating DEI from military

President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders aimed at restructuring the U.S. military's policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The first order bans transgender individuals from serving in the military, reinstating a policy from his previous term. The second order eliminates DEI programs within the armed forces, prohibiting discriminatory preferences and mandating a review of military curricula to remove "radical DEI and gender ideologies." These actions are intended to enhance military cohesion, readiness, and standardization.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who was narrowly confirmed by the Senate, will oversee the implementation of these changes. The Trump administration emphasizes its commitment to military superiority and readiness, aligning with the GOP's 2024 platform to strengthen the U.S. military and remove left-wing influences.

These executive orders are part of a broader initiative by the Trump administration to dismantle DEI programs across federal agencies, aiming to restore a merit-based system and eliminate what they describe as "radical DEI" practice
