The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has mandated that UPI IDs and associated phone numbers inactive for over a year be deactivated to prevent unintended transactions.
Key Points:
Inactive UPI IDs: If your UPI ID hasn't been used for financial or non-financial transactions in the past year, it will be disabled for receiving payments.
Inactive Phone Numbers: Phone numbers linked to UPI IDs that have been inactive for over three months will be deregistered from the UPI system.
How to Avoid Deactivation:
1. Regularly Use Your UPI ID: Ensure you perform at least one transaction (financial or non-financial) every year to keep your UPI ID active.
2. Update Your Contact Information: If you change your mobile number, promptly update it in your UPI-linked accounts to prevent deactivation.
3. Verify Your UPI Details: Regularly check and update your UPI ID and linked phone numbers in your banking apps to ensure they are current.
By staying proactive and keeping your UPI information up to date, you can ensure uninterrupted acc
ess to UPI services.
