Kerala man promises scooters at half price, dupes people of over ₹20 crore

A 26-year-old man named Ananthu Krishnan has been arrested in Kochi, Kerala, for allegedly defrauding people across the state of over ₹20 crore. Since 2022, Krishnan promised to provide scooters, home appliances, and other electronics at half price, claiming he could do so through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from major companies. He established entities like the 'Muvattupuzha Socio-Economic Development Society' and multiple consultancies to collect money from individuals under this pretense. In Muvattupuzha district alone, he reportedly defrauded people of around ₹9 crore. Investigations revealed that several companies were unaware of Krishnan's fraudulent activities conducted in their name. During interrogation, he admitted to not receiving any CSR funds from any company. Authorities are also examining the involvement of certain political figures in connection with this fraud.
