In a tragic incident in Hyderabad's Warasiguda area, two sisters, aged 25 and 22, lived with their deceased mother's body for over a week, unable to come to terms with her sudden demise. Their mother, 45-year-old Lalitha, passed away in her sleep on January 23, 2025. Overwhelmed by grief and lacking the financial means to conduct her last rites, the daughters remained in their home with the body, keeping the doors closed. Neighbors did not notice any foul smell due to the house's relative isolation.
On January 31, the sisters approached a local MLA's camp office seeking assistance for their mother's funeral expenses. They were directed to the police, who subsequently shifted Lalitha's body to a state-run hospital for a post-mortem examination. The young women, who worked as salesgirls after completing their intermediate and degree studies, had been living with their mother since their father abandoned the family in 2020.
