Philadelphia jet crash: Terrifying videos capture fireball lighting up sky | Watch

On the evening of January 31, 2025, a Learjet 55 medical evacuation aircraft tragically crashed shortly after departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The jet, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, was transporting a young patient and her mother back to Mexico following medical treatment. All six individuals on board, including the patient, her mother, a doctor, a paramedic, and the two pilots, perished in the accident.

The crash occurred near Roosevelt Mall in Northeast Philadelphia, resulting in a massive explosion that was captured on various recording devices. Footage from dashcams and doorbell cameras shows the aircraft descending rapidly before impacting the ground, leading to a significant fireball that illuminated the night sky.

The ensuing fire caused extensive damage to nearby homes, businesses, and vehicles. Several individuals on the ground sustained injuries, with at least six people hospitalized for burn-related injuries. Three of the injured were treated and released on the same day. One individual was struck by debris while dining in a nearby establishment.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash. Preliminary data indicates that the aircraft disappeared from radar approximately 30 seconds after takeoff, descending rapidly before impact. Weather conditions at the time included light rain, overcast skies, and fog, with wind gusts up to 30 mph.
